In 1990 something, Saboteur Musique was born out of the first wave underground rave scene. The love child of Madchester, Shoegaze, NY House, Detroit/Berlin Techno, Grunge, Trip Hop. The 90’s was defined by the cat & mouse game with authorities and outlaw warehouse parties. Imagine having Juan Atkins playing in your living room because the party got busted at 6pm while loading in the soundsystem. Yeah that happened, we accidentally rented a police academy for that one. Mostly though our hearts and minds were Losing Control to DBX-Dan Bell, Frankie bones, Adam X, Dj Hyperactive, Woody McBride, Model 500, Rob Acid, Miss Djax, Acid Junkies, LA Williams, Dj Skull, Mike Dearborne, Robert Ghorl and countless more. By ‘97 the raves moved into the clubs, so we were out. This ain’t no Disco…this ain’t no fooling around. Phase one, ‘97 Saboteur Musique released 12’’ records by Dj Hyperactive, Paul Birken, LA Williams, Kenneth Graham and a slew of others before the POP years arrived. Phase two, 2003–10 Saboteur made major label deals, released albums on a scale far greater than anticipated. Gone were the 500 copies, enter the hundreds of thousands. Awards, radio play, videos, sync placements & arena shows. Unexpected? Well we wanted to taste it. We still snuck in remixes from Akufen, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Mocky, TTC, J.O.T.S, Poirier, etc. Phase Three, the cat came back, the very next day, or 25ish years later. As the label goes full circle, back in orbit, Saboteur launches the next series. House and Techno. Space is the place.
